For normal containers, we already have
MovieView functions. With those functions you can for example play movies inside the container.
But with an interactive containers, Filemaker 12 actually uses a web view. There our MovieView functions will not work. But the Webviewer functions work.

This line will play the video. The container field on the layout must be named "movie" and we simply play the first video there. Of course you can also use other javascript video functions. like calling pause() function or querying duration or currentTime properties.
Yesterday we visited the Ehrenburg castle to check the location. It's a nice castle in the hills a few miles away from Koblenz and the landscape is quite nice. We'll take a bus from the hotel there and walk the way to the castle (400 meter). For that walk, you better bring sturdy shoes and a coat. In the castle we'll have a guided tour and dinner with some show elements right in the upper castle.
Next to the conference hotel is a shopping area with a HIT supermarket. Also there is a kiosk selling magazines with an integrated post and lotto shop. Also there is a bakery, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, two ATMs (Sparkasse and Postbank), a fashion shop and a beverage store.

MBS Xojo conference is approaching soon and we like to remind you about our hotel reservations. We blocked a lot of rooms and now our blocking ends today. NICKENICH, Germany (July 24th, 2013) -- Monkeybread Software releases version 13.2 of the MBS plug-in for Real Studio.
The MBS plug-in comprises a collection of several plug-in parts which extend the Real Studio development environment with 1,700 classes featuring over 48,000 documented functions. Our plugins support all three platforms Mac OS X, Windows and Linux with all project types desktop, web and console.
Some of the highlights on the 13.2 update:
As you may know AVFoundation framework is now the preferred way for applications on Mac OS X 10.7 and newer to do video editing. This includes recording video and audio from various sources, loading existing assets and creating new assets with audio and video content. Powerful export and convert functions allow to transcode video and audio data. And of course you can also play back audio and video and extract images and audio samples. So if you want to enjoy those new functions, you can migrate your existing code using QuickTime or QTKit to this new framework. This new plugin has 80 new classes and over 1500 new documented functions alone.
New Mac OS X classes for the Disk Arbitration Framework help with mounting and unmounting disks. And you can use them to query information about existing drives.
For Cocoa we add new classes and methods. For example the SpinningProgressIndicatorMBS allows better progress indicators.
The SQL Plugin has been improved. The LastStatement property on the SQLDatabaseMBS helps you now debugging your code by providing the last issued statement string. Or new DB2MBS class gives some direct DB2 related commands And you now can use CommandType parameter on all the functions which take SQL strings, so you can define if SQLAPI preprocesses the SQL command or not. Also we improved stability on Web Apps using our SQL Plugin and fixed a few bugs related to ODBC.
For our CURL Plugin we added a new Cancel property which helps to properly stop threaded operations. Also we improved the automatic collection of debug messages. We do have to inform you that we dropped PPC support for the CURL plugin due to some unfixable bugs.
We updated DynaPDF library to 3.0.27.70 and added new table examples. Our XL plugin now uses libXL version 3.5.3 to benefit from latest changes there. For LCMS2 reuse now the 2.5 release and our VLC plugin has been updated to 2.0.7. For SQL Functions we now use SQLAPI 4.1.1.

MBS FileMaker Plugin 3.3 has been updated and now includes over 1600 different functions, and the versatile plugin has gained more new functions:
Our new plugin has a lot of new function for
DynaPDF. Especially for handling huge PDF files like producing a 1000 page document. Also we now allow loading PDF pages as template and placing them several times on a new PDF. Finally we have methods to save your PDF and sign it with a digital signature.
For our encryption methods we have a new hash function called
Hash.PBKDF2.HMAC to create encryption keys based on a password. And you can choose between MD5, SHA1, SHA256 or SHA512 as hashing algorithm.
Our
ServerSocket functionality is improved to allow queries from Filemaker Go and from Javascript. This way we can for example trigger scripts in Filemaker Pro from a database on an iPad running Filemaker Go. Or even from a webviewer running inside Filemaker Pro on Windows using Internet Explorer 10.
A new function helps to verify if
email addresses are right. We check the syntax of the email address and optionally also verify that a mail server exists for the domain.
And we have improvements for Addressbook, SerialPort, Container, Drag & Drop, Window, Twain, Container and SQL access functions.
We had an excellent meeting in a beer garden in Austria. Even with the invitation going out Thursday, I was very happy to have 4 developers showing up.
So we talked about Xojo 2013r2, moving from VB6 to Xojo, various databases, web software security, the upcoming
conference and other interesting topics.

Today we did a little ship tour on the Rhine. There are ship companies which drive the Rhine up and down like a bus line. So you can simply buy a ticket and go on a ship. A few miles later you can simply go off and take the next one back. So here a panorama viewing from St. Goar to St. Goarshausen on the other side.
And on the trip back I did take photos of a few of the castles there:
On the ship we counted more than 30 indian people, at least 20 asian (Japanese maybe), a few french and even a few US americans. One family was from Ohio
This reminds me that we live in a holiday destination. A lot of people come each year to see the landscape, the cities and the old castles.

We often see people with problems with text encoding. For example they use MySQL Database with MySQLCommunityServer database class to query values. Those string values from recordset have no text encoding defined and they need to define one depending on which text encoding they do use with the plugin.
Now those strings without text encoding defined are passed to various functions. Our plugins as well as the Xojo framework have fallback code to handle this. More or less we either guess or we assume an encoding. Our MBS Plugins generally assume the platform encoding which is for example Windows ANSI on Windows. But when you pass around those strings you may expect some unexpected behaviors. Like umlauts going away or asian characters not drawn properly.
So for DynaPDF plugin we add a new option. A ValidateTextEncodings property. If you set it to true and you pass a string without defined encoding, we raise an UnsupportedFormatException to notify you.
If you like, take the next plugins, set the option to true and try your app. It may help you to find bugs with text encodings.
As you may know we have the
WebView.InstallCallback plugin function to register the window.status setter to call a Filemaker script in a webviewer from javascript. This is a very useful function for a lot of solutions.
But with Internet Explorer version 10 and newer, Microsoft optimized the security model. Or in other words, we can patch the stuff as much as we want, but the javascript methods no longer call the patched functions.
So we need another solution. And we found one in the last days. We can use our new
ServerSocket functions. So the plugin is told to wait for incoming requests and performs them. The website itself sends via Javascript a XMLHttpRequest to our plugin. This way we can once again launch scripts from Javascript. And this works also with Mac OS X and Webkit.
So please check 3.3pr6 plugin with the
ServerSocket functions and the new example.

With this SOAP Kit, you can parse the webservice description file (WSDL) and generate source code for all the methods, constants and classes defined in your webservice. You add this code to your project together with additional source code provided from MBS. Now you can call the webservice methods like any other method in your code.

The MBS SQLite Extension is a multifunctional extension to any SQLite powered application. You can use it as:

So finally I'm through all the AVFoundation classes. With 80 new classes, 15 examples and 1600 documented items, one of the biggest additions to our Xojo (Real Studio) Plugins in the last years.
AVFoundation is Apples current framework for audio/video and a replacement for QuickTime & QTKit frameworks. You can:
- Play audio and video
- Record audio and video
- Build Compositions from different source assets
- Control audio mixing
- Export assets to different file formats
- Create thumbnails of videos
- Extract frames from videos and build videos from frames
And AVFoundation uses threads a lot for best performance. Nearly all operations work in background, so you can keep your app very responsive while getting a twelve core Mac Pro busy.

If you like to use our CURL plugin in Xojo or Real Studio, you can start with one of the example projects or from scratch. Here we show you how to make an easy download. So first you need a new object of the
CURLSMBS class and you create it with the new command. Now you can set all the options like OptionURL. For the data you receive, you can subclass and implement the Write event. Or you simply set CollectOutputData to true. In that case the plugin collects the data and you later find it int he OutputData property.
To run the transfer, you call Perform method. If you run the transfer in a thread, you may want to look in the PerformMT function for better threading.
After the transfer completed and you have no error on the transfer, you can work on the result. For example you can use GetInfoHTTPConnectCode function to see what HTTP error code you got. There success has the value 200. So here is your example code:

For help on debugging what's going on, you can set OptionVerbose to true to see debug messages. if you set CollectDebugData to true, you can find the debug messages in DebugData property:
